What's On

Throughout the year there is a wide range of events taking place at St Paul's. Music is a speciality and, as well as our own St Paul's Choir, we welcome orchestras, choirs, singers and musicians from a broad musical heritage to give public concerts and recitals in church. We also host lectures, talks and faith group meetings. Our Community Centre offers a full programme of classes and activities to suit all ages including art, ballet and modern dance. See below to find out what is coming up soon.

The Nativity Festival, Friday December 3rd - Sunday December 5th

Saturday 4th December, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and Sunday 5th December, 11:30 am - 4:00 pm
Two all-day sessions of open church with 30+ Nativity sets on display, on loan with kind permission of members of our church community.  See the beautiful example on the right. There will be a children's trail and children's Nativity costumes for the young ones to enjoy.  You are welcome to come on either Saturday or Sunday, or why not visit us on both days? Entrance is free and refreshments will be served.  Festive and hand-crafted goods will be available for purchase.

During each afternoon we will have talks on the theme of St Paul's 'The Christmas Church' where you can discover all the sublime and beautiful ways that the Christmas Story is represented in the architecture of St Paul's.  Notable examples include the exquisite hand-carved reredos (see left) and the beautiful stained glass in the windows of the Lady Chapel, from the studio of the renowned Charles Eamer Kempe.  Your expert guide is church historian Elizabeth Simon.
Sunday 5th December, 6:30 pm:  Advent Choral Evensong

St Paul's Choir led by Kevin Jones bring our Nativity Festival to a close with a beautiful choral evensong. This special service of worship is the perfect opportunity to appreciate the fine acoustic of our church and the talent of our choir!

Christmas Fair, Saturday 20th November 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

A much-loved annual event in the local community calendar, the St Paul's Christmas Fair makes a sparkling return in 2021.  On Saturday 20th November from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm our Community Centre and church will be transformed into an emporium of seasonal delights to get you and your family into the festive spirit and help with your preparations for Christmas. It's a family event and we welcome children of all ages.

There will be homemade treats aplenty including jams, chutneys and preserves; mince pies (of course), delicious homemade cakes and pastries, puddings and other seasonal specialities.  If the sight of all the lovely food leaves you feeling peckish, we will be serving lunches, teas and cakes throughout the day in the Lounge, at very reasonable prices. Come early and take some time to relax with a cuppa and a bite, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Once refreshed, you can browse the stalls for unique gift ideas including an enticing range of crafted decorative items for your Christmas home.

There will be bric-a-brac, books and toys; games that the family can enjoy; unique homemade jewellery; knitwear; advent candle arrangements and much more.

For the children, we will be offering face painting on the day as well as games and activities to keep them entertained.

Make sure you grab a ticket for the tombola and raffle with lovely prizes, and just maybe Santa will come early for you and yours.

Entry to the St Paul's Christmas Fair is through the Community Centre doors and costs just 50p for adults, and for children it's free.  All proceeds from the event go to fund the pastoral work of St Paul's Wimbledon Parkside.

See you on Saturday!
